I was recently explaining to Caroline that her cousins Mariella and Ryan will be moving. Caroline says ” How will Mariella and Ryan move their house, isn’t it heavy?”
What’s happening with Gavin

I feel bad because we don’t have many post about Gavin. It’s mostly because he doesn’t really say much and what he does say doesn’t really crack you up laughing yet. So let me update you on some of the funny/crazy stuff he does.
He of course (like most boys) likes to climb on everything. We have a TV amoire and he stood on the bottom shelf of it and pressed his face agains the screen to get a better look at Mickey Mouse. He also stands on the baseboards to look out of the window.
Gavin doesn’t say much so we taught him some baby sign language (Caroline and I took a class when she was a baby). The one sign he has down is “more” (anyone how has seen him eats knows why this of all signs would be the one he learns first). Anyway today he was pooping and we didn’t know if he was finished so Rob asked him if he was still going and Gavin did the more sign. He might not say much but you can tell he is bright.

Sneak

Caroline likes to sit on the arm of the couch when she watches TV. She claims she has the best view from it. Anyway we don’t like her sitting on the arm of the couch so we are always telling her to get down.
The other day minutes before Rob gets home from work, she is on the arm. I tell her if daddy see’s her on the arm he’ll be mad. She says “when I see him pull in I’ll get down”.
What else does she do when we are not looking.

We recently introduced Garlic Naan to Caroline. She liked it, so we told her what it was called. She said “Naan like the song, Nan nan nan nana nan nan Hey Jude…….”

Always the center of attention

Caroline plays soccer. They break up the kids by age 3 year olds 4 year olds and 5 year olds. Well when we started Soccer she was 3 so when they called out the ages she went running over to the 3 year old group (I would have put her with the 4 year olds). So last week she had soccer on her birthday. We are in the car on our way to soccer practice and Caroline tells me ” I’m 4 now, so now I can go with the 4 year old group”. I tell her I don’t know if she can change groups, that she went with the 3 year olds she may have to finish out soccer with the 3 year olds. She tells me “I’ll talk to the coaches”. We get to soccer Caroline goes running off to talk to the coaches, I’m lagging behind getting Gavin set up in his stroller. Finally catch up with Caroline, she is telling them that it’s her birthday so now she wants to go with the 4 year olds. I explain to them what happened, and they say she can go with what ever group she wants to.
Now at the beginning of soccer they gather all the kids together and just give them a pep talk. Well on this day the head coach announces that they have a very important announcement and called Caroline up. They have all the kids and parents (about 100 people) sing Happy Birthday to Caroline. She LOVED it.
As 100 people sing Happy Birthday to Caroline. I have a mother who I don’t know standing next to me, she says “I love this little girl, she is so precocious”. I tell her she is mine. But it never get’s old hearing how much other adults get a kick out of Caroline.

The Show Must Go On

I was recently talking to Caroline’s dance teacher. She was telling me about the upcoming dance recital (June 7th). She said that for most of the girls she has to worry about getting them out on stage because they are so shy. Not Caroline, with her she has to worry about getting her to stop talking long enough to get her out in stage.

We visited friends last week who have a little girl Zoe. Zoe is ten months old and has very curly hair. Since then Caroline has been obsessed with curly hair. She wants it and wants it bad. She keeps asking for me to put roller in her hair to make her hair curly. No problem. Only thing is Caroline keeps thinking that this will make her hair permanently curly (the curls actually only last about an hour). I keep telling her the curls are going to come out, that she has straight hair. She then replies to me. “No, I wished and wished for curly hair. I’m going to have curly hair”. Of course she is very disappointed when she looks in the mirror and the curls are gone.

Caroline and I made Smore’s cupcakes this morning (not as good as it sounds). The cupcakes had Hershey Kisses in the middle of the cupcakes. I had Caroline unwrapping the kisses and placing them in the middle of the cupcake batter. I had to go to the bathroom, so I moved the kisses to the back of the kitchen counter out of Caroline’s reach and left Caroline in the kitchen while I went to the bathroom. While in the bathroom I hear A LOT of movement in the kitchen. So I decide I am going to try to sneak up on Caroline to see what she is doing. I come back into the kitchen and she is rushing down the other hallway unwrapping a kiss and putting it in her mouth. I asked her how she got the kiss (she is good about ratting herself out) she told me she climbed onto the kitchen counter and got it (not that big of a climb since when we back I have her sit on a step stool). After I laughed, I of course told her she can’t climb on the counter. We go back to baking. We start our next batch of cupcakes and Caroline says ” Mommy I think you should go to the bathroom”. I said I don’t need to go. Caroline replies ” I think you should try”. I ask her why are you going to try to steal another kiss. The answer was yes.
Later after making the cupcakes, Caroline had to go to the bathroom. She is in the bathroom and I am cleaning up in the kitchen. We had an extra kiss so I quickly eat it (or try). Caroline and I are talking back and forth between the bathroom and the kitchen. She asks from the bathroom “mommy why are you talking weird, do you have something in your mouth”. I say no of course not (yes I know, now I’m the liar). Caroline continues to drill me. ” well why are you talking like that, are you sneaking bites of the cupcakes”. I quickly swallow the kiss and go to see her and show her I have nothing in my mouth. She didn’t buy it.

the torch has been passed

Caroline since she was a new born always slept with (and when she was younger took everywhere) her Baa baa. It’s a sheep blankie. Well last night she declared she did not need Baa baa anymore and she wanted to give it to Gavin. She had to put Baa baa in his crib last night while he was sleeping.
My little girl is growing up.
